Getting Started with Magick Box

The composer

Everything starts from the composer, the input box that appears on the landing page and in every conversation. It handles all media types, so you do not switch tools to move from asking a question to generating an image.

The toolbar holds the controls that matter: a model dropdown for choosing which AI answers, a file button for attaching documents or images to discuss, and a skills button for specialised behaviours. Typing on the landing page and submitting starts a new conversation directly.

Choosing a model

Several frontier models are available, and they behave differently. The dropdown lets you change model mid-conversation, which is more useful than it sounds: when an answer is unsatisfying, re-asking the same question of a different model is often faster than rewriting your prompt.

As a starting policy, use a fast model for everyday questions and switch to a reasoning-focused one when a task has several dependent steps.

Generating media

Image, video and music generation happen in the same conversation rather than in separate tools, so you can describe what you want, look at the result, and refine in place. That conversational loop is the main advantage over tools where each generation starts from nothing.

Each media type has its own models with genuinely different characters. When a result is not working, trying a different model with the same prompt is usually worth doing before rewriting the prompt.

• Describe subject, framing, lighting and style for images.
• Ask for single shots rather than scenes for video.
• Name a narrow genre and give tempo separately for music.
• Generate several variations before judging a prompt.

The feed and communities

Anything you generate can be published to your profile or into a community. Communities are grouped by the kind of work people make there, which makes them a better place to post than the general feed once you know what you are into.

The feed shows what other people are making. Beyond being interesting, it is the fastest way to learn what is currently possible, since seeing a result you did not know was achievable is more instructive than reading about capabilities.

Quests and keys

Daily and weekly quests reward regular use with experience, streaks and Magick Keys, which unlock additional features. If you are learning the platform, working through the quests is a reasonable structure, since they tend to point you at surfaces you would not otherwise try.
